This project is an idea my photographer friend, Kelli, emailed me and asked me to make for her. I had so much fun making it and liked it so much that I made another one for myself. :-)

I’m sure you can’t tell from the photos, but “I Love You” on the hearts have Spica on them to make them shimmer. It’s so subtle that I couldn’t get a photo to pick it up……….and trust me when I say I took a ton of photos of both in an attempt to pick up the shimmer. Ah, well!

Anyway, the main difference between the one I made for Kelli and the one I kept for myself is the “365”. For her vase, I did individual numbers and popped them up. For the one I’m keeping, I made it into a layered tag.

On Your Birthday….

Happy Sunday evening!

So, my mom is a New Year’s ‘baby’ and since she and my dad are the ones that bought the Cricut Imagine for me for Christmas, I decided to use it to make my mom’s birthday card. I mailed it FOREVER ago and I have yet to hear from my mom that she’s received it. She’s horrible about going and getting her mail at the PO! LOL

For this card, I used:

Hi Blogger Friends!

I’ve taken some “time off” from being on a design team, but I’ve decided it’s time to go back to work. ;-) That said, I’m using this project as my entry for the Scrapbook Pal design team. Wish me luck………….

I am the room mom for my youngest daughter’s 2nd grade class, so when we started planning their holiday party and one of the moms mentioned making cupcakes, I knew I wanted to make some cupcake holders. I needed 20-25 of them, so I wanted them to be pretty simple.

For this project, you’ll need:

Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge
Sesame Street Seasons Cricut Cartridge
Patterned Paper of your choosing
Black cardstock
White cardstock
Star Dust Stickles
Ranger Distress Ink Antique Linen
Scor Pal
Ranger Glossy Accents

For the cupcake holder, I cut the patterned paper (I used 12x12) at 7 inches with the Sweet Treats cartridge, saving your scraps for later. Using the Scor Pal, score along all the score lines (notches) that the Cricut makes for us. Fold along score lines, making sure to fold toward the inside of your box. Adhere with your desired liquid adhesive.

Using the scraps from your patterned paper, cut a strip of paper 1” by 8” long. Adhere to your box for a handle. I adhered my handles on the outside of the box, because I knew I would be covering them with the trees. Set aside.

With your white cardstock, cut two trees at 3 1/4” using Sesame Street Seasons. Cut two more trees with black cardstock using the shadow feature at 3 1/4” using Sesame Street Seasons. Apply adhesive to the back of the white cardstock and adhere to the black shadow.

For added dimension and a snowy/glittery effect, ink white tree layer with Antique Linen distress ink and add Star Dust Stickles.

Cut one set of the scalloped edge from page 58 using the shift feature of the cupcake holder. For this step, you could cut two of these and use the longer pieces for the scalloped edges. I was making them for a 2nd grade class party, so I didn’t fret about two of them being shorter than the others. ;-)

Apply all four pieces of the scalloped edge to the top edge of each end of the box. I used the shorter pieces behind the trees.

When the Stickles have dried, add a pop dots to the backs of the trees and adhere to the cupcake holders, over the top of the handles.

D….O….N….E! Easy, huh?

What kind of feedback did I get? As I suspected, the kids were more interested in the contents of the cupcake holders. The adults, on the other hand, gave rave reviews and said I should make some to sell for birthday parties – that’s a good idea!!!!

“Bite Me” Bookmarks

I’ve got a booth at a local craft/Christmas fair on 12/3 and I’m scrambling to make a bunch of crafty ‘stuff’.

This is something I’ve had in mind for a LONG time. My oldest daughter is a big vampire/supernatural lover…books, movies, etc. She loves it all. I figure since Twilight is all the rage right now, I would put a little spin on that and a popular phrase that’s been in our family for YEARS!!!! “Bite Me” is what we all say when someone is giving us a hard time. The fangs work well with it, don’t ya think? ;-)

So, here is my “Bite Me” bookmark. I’ve got about 20 of these made and ready to roll.

A big HUGE thanks to Kim at Cutters Creek for the quick shipping on the Cricut stamp refills. I used the Cricut stamp material, Van Helsing font, Cricut machine and SCAL to cut my “Bite Me” stamp.

It goes without saying, but I’m now one corner bookmark shy of 20 for my booth. My daughter took one look at it and said “That’s Mine!!”. he he!!

I’m just not feeling it…

We are just over a month until Christmas and I’m just not feeling it. I guess maybe because it was 80 degrees in Texas yesterday. Today is a little better with a forecast high of 61. Maybe I need to drop the AC down to about 40, turn on some Christmas music and lock myself in my scraproom. IDK?

So, here is my card. IDK if I like it or not.

BTW – that snowflake DP doesn’t look that antique/off-whitish in person. I’m using my son’s camera, which I’ve found is pretty dang annoying!! Mine is all charged up and ready to roll for a play at school tonight.

Hello Kitty b-day invitations

Hi friends!!

I had a customer email me, asking for 10 Hello Kitty birthday party invitations in neon pink. When I saw this image, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!! :-)

These cards measure 5.5x7.5 inches. Hello Kitty was the most challenging part of this card, but I think they turned out pretty cute! :-)

Here is the inside:

I computer generated the invitation information, printed it on the same neon papers I used on the front of the cards and layered with black for a finished look.

I have an extra one or two of these that I will be putting up for order-taking/sample purposes in my BluJay Store.

Yes, I know……..another CD Cover! This one wasn’t made for my photographer friend though. This one was made for my parents. Long story short: they got “remarried” a few years ago, my mom lost her photo CD and I couldn’t find mine either. Well, she still hasn’t found her copy, but………..I FOUND MINE!!! They came to visit last week, so I surprised them with their photos in this CD cover. Now, hopefully my mom won’t lose this one! LOL

One Final Project…

Hello there!!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my project for the Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central Halloween post. It is a bittersweet moment, as this is my last project for my term with Stamping Scrapping. While I think I’m going to thoroughly enjoy the free time to be able to play with all my tools and enjoy some other creative endeavors, I’m going to miss the push to keep creating! The 2011-2012 SSCC DT has already been chosen and will be announced soon, if it hasn’t been already.

Now, here is my project! I took an envelope and made it into a gift bag. Kelli with Kellukas Photography and I are always sending gift bags back & forth with various CD covers, business cards, etc in them and can always use some extra bags. Soooo……….this is a quick & easy way to make a gift bag and it’s already been sent on it’s way to Kelli! :-)

Expecting a girl…

No………not me! No more babies here! My “caboose” is now 7 1/2 years old. I won’t be doing diapers again until I have grandbabies and I hope that is still several years away! ;-)

Kelli with Kellukas Photography did a photo shoot of a sweet couple expecting a baby girl. I usually convert one of her photos into a digital image and color it with my Copics, but I couldn’t make this one work for some reason. That left me needing to come up with a new design and well…………..Kelli & I both like the way this turned out. I think this will be the new design for mommies expecting a baby girl. A simple look, but cute! :-)

Digi Scrapping in 24x12

Hi Fellow Crazy Crafters!!

At CKC San Marcos, I was able to volunteer some time in a couple of classrooms for Patty, aka The Digital Scrapbook Teacher. If you’ve never been to her site or attended her classes, you’re missing out! She is fluent in PhotoShop Elements and teaches you step-by-step how to achieve the look you’re going for…………and she has awesome page templates!!

Anyway, I visited her store booth (of course) and was in awe of the quantity of CDs she had available for purchase!

The template I used can be found in Set C. This is what the template looked like when I started:

This is the page I made using the template above and photos taken by Kellukas Photography back in November.

As you can see, I removed the small photo blocks at the top of the page, added some text and moved the flourish up.

Once I was done editing - and of course, saving - my page, cropped it down to be 2 12x12 pages, as shown below……

They will each be printed as a 12x12 page, which I can then put into my 12x12 scrapbook album. I think I prefer the 24x12 templates over the 12x12 now. I wish I had know when I visited her booth……. I sure hope she does a sale on these soon! *sigh*

Easy Canvas Prints - Review

I recently received an email from Brendan at Easy Canvas Prints asking if I’d be interested in receiving a free 8x10 canvas in exchange for a review and side-bar advertising on my blog. Sure! I can always use a canvas, right? ;-)

The code he sent me was for a free 8x10, or a credit equal to the price of an 8x10 canvas toward another size if I’d like an upgrade. Cool!

I chose to have this photo printed on canvas so I could have a little something for our master bathroom. If any of you know me at all, you know that I LOVE PURPLE!! My bedroom is dark purple…………….and one day, my master bathroom will be too………..so this was very fitting!!! ;o)

We chose to do a wrapped canvas, which means that the photo wraps around the edges of the canvas.

Note: A wrapped canvas means you’re going to lose some of your photo on the front of the canvas, but it does wrap around the sides. If you look at the photo above and then look at the canvas, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

The end result is gorgeous and will look even better when I get my bathroom wall painted. LOL

So……..if you’re in need of a canvas, I recommend Easy Canvas Prints! They’re located in Austin Texas, their end-product is beautiful, the canvas was packaged very well and their shipping was quick!

Heartfelt Creations Video

At the Creating Keepsakes Convention this weekend, my friends & I had a BLAST!!! Here is a photo someone took of the three of us with Melody’s iPhone.

Someone else took a photo with my digital camera and I’m not kidding when I say they’re terrible! One photo, Tina’s eyes are closed. In another one, my eyes are closed. One we’re all looking at something else, one we’re blurry and the last one, the one that actually turned out okay, well….we just look like death from our lack-of sleep weekend! ha ha!! What gives? LOL

Anyway, during my shopping excursions, I (of course) stopped to visit with the always-sweet Emma Lou from Heartfelt Creations. She was doing a demo on one of their flower petal stamps that I did a video of. And yes……..I did buy this set! As soon as I can function and ~~make complete sentences again~~ get some sleep, I’ll play with those and some other things I got this weekend.

This is a quick & simple card I made for my oldest daughter’s birthday, which is in a month. GO ME for being ahead of the game!! LOL

I don’t “do” vintage…

…but this week’s theme at 365 Cards is Vintage and today’s color is Green! I’d love to join 365 Cards every day of the year to get a big stockpile of cards done, but in all honesty, I don’t think I will have that many ideas in my head in a lifetime, much less in a year! One can dream though, right?? LOL

Here is my take on a Vintage card using the color green! I know……….Christmas in August………but I’m trying to get ahead this year!

The paper is called “Vintage Christmas” by The Paper Studio. I bought this at Hobby Lobby last year, so who knows if they’ll have it again?

I did a little stitching with my sewing machine. We don’t normally get along well (at all), but we got through today’s project with no hitches or glitches! That *never* happens! ha ha!!

I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Antique Linen ink pad and stamped my sentiment with Adirondack Raisin.

I used my Spellbinders Grand Calibur to cut the Classic Scalloped Squares Large and the Classic Squares Large.

The sentiment comes from “Hearts Come Home” and the border is out of “From Our House”. Both sets are 2” square by JustRite.

Of course, I’m linking up to 365 Cards.

Blah to Oo-lah-lah

Happy Thursday {evening}!!!

School starts back in central Texas on Monday and if you’re anything like me, you want your kiddos to go to school with cute schtuff. That being said, I decided to “decorate” a blah, boring, white 3-ring binder that my daughter will transport back & forth to school with her homework, notes, etc. This one is for my youngest daughter, who will be going into second grade, but something tells me my older two will want one too. She picked out the papers and I sent her on her merry way while I went to work! She came in and out of my scraproom a few times, but I wouldn’t let her past the doorway until I was completely done! LOL

Here is a shot of a blah, boring, white 3-ring binder. Not that you don’t know what one of these looks like, but hey……ya never know! ;o) (FYI: This is a stock photo and not the binder I altered)

This is the front of her binder, with her first name. Note that I double-matted the “Recess” tag to make it stand out a little more? I mean, let’s face it, what kid will tell you that Recess isn’t his/her favorite ‘subject’ in school? ha ha!!

This is the back of her binder, which is similar to the front, with our last name.

Her binder is a 1/2” binder, which left like NO space on the spine to ‘decorate”, so I just added a piece of maroon paper and called it done.

The consensus from my to-be-2nd-grader? She LOVED it! That makes a mom SMILE!!!

Remember me? It’s Billie. Yeah, you’ve probably forgotten all about me by now! LOL I’ve been gone a while, haven’t I? I have a good excuse though…really!!! We’ve been vacationing – a two week road trip from Texas to Utah and back. We visited various tourist destinations along the way (The Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, Carlsbad Caverns, Arches National Park, Hole n The Rock, Very Large Array, 1/2 day raft/float trip in Page, AZ, etc, etc….as well as lots and lots of hiking!!). We had a great time and took a TON of pictures!!!

Anyway, the current project with Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central is…yes…ANOTHER Summer challenge! :-)

I was at a loss of what to come up with for a ‘summer’ project, so I thought flowers and just went with it to create this notebook. LOL

I buy these Corner Office Writing Tablets when Walgreens puts them on sale……which has been a while!! I’m out of writing tablets, so I sure hope they put them on sale again and SOON! LOL Anyway, I take all the pages out of the notebook and use that for the pages of my books. Add a little patterned paper, some chipboard for stability, a few embellishments and voila! A customized notebook. :-)

Wedding Page Redo…..

Saturday was my birthday, so my family was nice enough to allow me to lay on the couch and scrap pretty much all day! How do you like that? Me? I was loving it! :-)

Okay, so I really did NOT like the wedding page I put together last week. It was sooooo boring…………so I redid it using a template I downloaded! I {heart} templates!!!

Final Layout for PSE Class

Hello friends!

Thanks so much for being patient with me as I create and share layouts from my PhotoShop Elements classes. I have seriously learned SO much in just a few months! I’m quite pleased with what all can be accomplished in PSE…..who would have thought? Obviously, not I! ;o)

So, this is my final layout for my PSE class. It’s a page I created from our wedding, which was……..umm………8+ years ago! Yes, I know! I’m way far behind! I have 16+ years of scrapping to catch up on and I’m going all digital, baby!!!!

On this page, I:

created my own paper (the champagne colored background paper)
wrapped my ribbons around the frame and edges of paper
recolored some elements
used the eraser tool to somewhat blend my photos into the background
extracted text from another paper

I would love to hear from you! Let me know……..do you scrap the traditional paper & glue way or digitally? If digitally, what program do you use to scrap in? What is your favorite tool?

PSE Intermediate Class One

Yes, I know….more digital scrap crap! ;o)

In the intermediate class, we’re learning to recolor papers, elements, create our own papers, etc. I’m having soooooo much fun!

This is a layout I did for the current class.

On this layout, I:

cut the striped mat from a sheet of patterned paper
removed the color from the yellow mats, tag, ribbon and paper strips, then added color back to them with colors from the photos
“Kiss” is from a brush I downloaded

Next up is learning to remove color from a photo and adding coloring back into certain aspects, as well as create my own patterned paper…..I can’t wait!! There is one specific photo I have in mind for doing this to! :-)

PSE Class Week Four

Hello there!!

This was the final layout for my Photoshop Elements beginner class. I’m starting to feel more and more comfortable in this program! I knew NOTHING when I started this class. Now I’m working with brushes and extractions and drop shadows and text masking and templates and so, so many other things!! I can’t wait to get going on the intermediate class and see what other cool things I learn about!

I kinda goofed up on this one! I made the layout, flattened the page, saved it as a jpg file and closed out of the program. As I was uploading the file to the website to have my homework looked over, I realized that I didn’t do any sort of information about who that pooch is in the photo! **GASP** So, I had to go in and add that information after the fact. I guess it doesn’t look too terribly dumb, all things considered! LOL

It’s FRIDAY!!!! Woohoo!!! ;o)

Yes, I’m still working on finishing up the beginning class for my Photoshop Elements class. I’m having a lot of fun and really learning a lot! That’s a pretty far leap……..I knew zip about this program before I started the class. LOL

This layout is done from more prom photos of my oldest daughter. Seven down between this layout and the other one…………..5 million more to go! ;o)

On this layout, I:

used a template
matted my photos
airbrushed the edges of the green paper
created text with the Text Mask Tool
added drop shadows

Next class…………learning brushes, fixing red-eye and blemishes!

Another PSE Layout

Carrying on with my PSE class………

Here is a layout I made of my oldest daughter (Kelci) from the couple hundred photos I took of her before prom. Clark showed up and we took about a dozen photos of him/them together before he was complaining that his cheeks hurt. LOL

In this layout, I used the cookie cutter tool to cut the heart from the photo, used the eraser tool to blend the background and used stroke around the heart. I used the paint bucket to fill in the stroke around the heart, for the font color and for the color on the filmstrip. The green came from the very, very little bit of green you can see in my daughter's dress in the bottom right photo. LOL

Would I be being a biased mom if I say I think Kelci is just gorgeous? ;-)

I’m working on some other layouts and have a project for the “red, white & blue” challenge coming up soon, so I hope you’ll stop back by for another visit.

Photoshop Elements Layout

Hello friends!!

As most of you know, for the most part, I am a digital scrapbooker. I usually use Stampin’ Up My Digital Studio and I love it, but there were a few things I wanted to do that MDS doesn’t offer……like extracting a photo and feathering it to blend into your background, removing blemishes, etc. Recently, Go Digital Scrapbooking ran a sale on their Photoshop Elements classes. I got beginner and intermediate classes for $15 total. Yeah, I decided to do it.

This is my homework assignment for class 2 of my 4-week class.

On this layout, I:

edited the photo to extract & feather it
cut the heart from a white paper and filled it with a color selected from the photo
changed the opacity of the flourish paper
flooded the paper behind the flourish paper with a color selected from the photo.
flooded the text with a color selected from the photo
added drop shadows
removed a scratch from Allison's arm using the eraser tools.

I know it’s a very simple page, but by the time I got through 3 lessons in class 2 and figured out where things are in PSE 7 (which is what I have) relative to PSE 9 (which they’re teaching on), I had a killer headache! LOL

SSCC – Embossing

Happy Summer!!

Yes, it really is summer! And it’s a really hot one too!! I’m in central Texas (Austin area) and it’s so hot I could probably fry an egg on my driveway – ugh!! Our normal high temperatures this time of year are approximately 90 degrees, but we’ve been at or above triple digit temps for a while now and haven’t had any significant rainfall in waaaaay too long! On Monday and again on Tuesday, this is what my car’s thermometer said it was. Yikes! That’s HOT!!!

Anyway…………the current challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central is embossing. I did several embossing techniques on this project. I embossed the purple paper with a Cuttlebug folder, I embossed the area around my three Spellbinders dies and I also embossed the wedding rings with embossing powder.

This is another CD cover for Kellukas Photography. It’s obviously a wedding cover and “Hefner” is the couple’s last name.

A cute little visitor

WARNING: NOT SCRAP RELATED!!

We’ve had a little cutie stop by for a visit this week. We’re the “nursery” for at least one fawn every year. The doe delivers in our yard, leaves her fawn for hours at a time, then comes back for feedings.

This is one we had visit a few days ago. His “bed” was just off of our back porch by our bedroom window. Brave little sole considering we have a hyper lab who likes to run after anything that comes around. ;o)

And these little cuties were here earlier today! They were SOOOOO cute, running around all over the yard, kicking up their heels and playing. I couldn’t get the video camera in time to catch them playing, but at least I got a few photos.

Anyway, just wanted to share a few photos of our visitors!

Baby CD Cover

Kelli with Kellukas Photography photographed a precious newborn baby girl recently. I did THIS layout of the new mom with her little angel. The mom liked it and made it her profile pic on her Facebook page. :-)

When you have photos taken by Kellukas Photoraphy, you get a photo CD in a custom cover, created by yours truly. I’m having so much fun creating covers and this one is definitely no exception!! This one is quite obviously for a baby girl, but it could also be altered for a boy as well.

This would be a great gift for an expectant couple or even a “welcome baby” gift. Include a CD containing a video or photos from the baby shower, birth, etc and your gift is complete! I can also create a matching card, which can be included with the CD.

DIY Mardi Gras Mask

Soooooo, my oldest daughter goes to prom this weekend. They have to wear a mask. We found one at the mall for about $15. Instead of buying one, my oh-so-crazy 16-year-old daughter says “I want my mommy to make one!” Umm………..yeah!

Things I’ve learned in decorating a mask:

They look soooooo pretty! Seriously! I found some gorgeous ones online and thought I can do that with Stickles, right? Umm………not! “Why not?” you ask. Well, I tried! I put a thin line of Stickles around the eyes of the mask and set them aside to dry. After about an hour or so, I reached for it and GUESS WHAT!?!? The friggin’ Stickles popped off the mask in strips! Ugh!!!! That takes me to…….
i-rock crystal gems! Yeah, I heat set gems all the way around both eye holes. I let them cool for a moment and pushed them with my finger. Cool. They seem to be sticking! I moved the mask aside to do something else. When I did, gems popped off and shot everywhere!! At this point, not only gems were flying, but a few choice words were as well! :-(
THEN!!!! I decided to try to glue the dang things on! Yeah…….did you know that it’s nearly impossible to get a little tiny bead of hot glue onto a gem and get it where it needs to go without burning the crap out of yourself? It’s true! Who would have thought?
After the hot glue was obviously not going to happen, I decided to try Zip Dry. Nope! That didn’t work either!!
I finally told my daughter I was GIVING UP!!!!
I hot glued trim on the outer edges and around the eyes. I added some black, lime green and a bit of white ribbon and called it done.

I was nervous to show it to my daughter! Okay, scared as hell was more like it! My daughter & my husband are THE two pickiest people I’ve ever met!!! If I didn’t know any better, I’d swear they shared the same DNA! LOL

Her response? She loved it! REALLY!?!? You mean my burned fingers, ulcerated stomach and massive headache are all worth it because my daughter liked her new mask? YES, it’s true! Woohoo!! :-)

I’m going to curl the ribbons with a curling iron between now & prom to give them some shape, but other than that, she’s all done! I don’t think I’d recommend this project to anyone! It’s well worth the $15 to go buy one! LOL

Now….on to my project!! I’ve created a bit of a window scene using the Woodware House Proud set. Very cute set! I stamped the cat on Cryogen paper, then stamped it on a sheet of notebook paper. I cut out the one on the notebook paper and used that as a mask. I then stamped the window over the top of that. I stamped the curtains on patterned paper and cut it out. I didn’t use any embellishments on this one. I tried tying a 1/8” satin ribbon around the curtains for a “tie back”, but it should didn’t look right. Anything else I thought of made me think it would be too busy. What do you think? Think it needs something? If so, what would you recommend? :o)

This is the front of my card. That kitty is studying something outside, isn’t it? Next time I’m going to mask the window & stamp a tree outside. I think that would look cool. Of course, I thought about doing that AFTER I added my curtains with pop dots! LOL

JustRite Thank You Card

HEY THERE!!!

So, today at 1:57 pm, my nearest & dearest emailed and asked if I have any cards made that will work for him to give his assistant for Administrative Assistant Day, which is apparently……………TOMORROW!!!! Being married to this man for 8 years, I know better than to just make something, because he’s pickier than my 16-year-old daughter! I know! I can’t believe it either!!! Anyway, so I email him and ask him what he has in mind. His response? Are you ready for this? His exact words: “I’d like a card that you think that she would like.” I about fell out of my chair!!!! LOL So, after some conversation, we finally determined that he wanted a thank you card in a floral theme. Hmm, alrighty then!

So, this is what I came up with! And, to my shock & pleasure, HE LIKED IT!!! Woohoo!! LOL

I created this card using the sketch from Friday Sketchers. Nice sketch, ladies!!! :o)

I stamped Marci three or four times and cut each layer of her tutu out and adhered it with thick glue dots so that it would give the tutu some dimension.

Whatcha Workin’ On Wednesday

The girls on our Stamping Scrapping Design Team and I have been talking about sharing photos of what we’re currently working on. So, this is what my current project looks like……………….unedited, just for you! ;o)

Yes, I have a bit of a mess in one corner of my room! Some girlfriends & I are getting together to have a HUGE yard sale at my house on April 9. It was originally supposed to be just three of us, but I think we’re up to at least 5, with potentially one or two others. We’re going to have so much fun!!! LOL

The plastic table and chair to the right of this photo is where my friend, Tina, sits when she comes over to scrapbook. Melody sits at the table that butts up against this one. This is where they sat the first time they came over and they just always go to that seat. It’s quite funny!!

We’ve even made our signs!! We made three double-sided neon signs for the three entrances into my subdivision, seven more double-sided signs for the various turns to get from the entrances to my house and we did 3 double-sided signs to hang on the neon signs with my address and an arrow. The cuts were made with my Cricut Expression and Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. We’re prepared!!!

So, today (and for the next several days) I’m working on cleaning out what I’m going to get rid of. NO! The My Mind’s Eye paper and the two stacks in front of the JetMax cubes will NOT be included in the sale. I can’t part with my MME papers! LOL

I’m going through every piece of loose paper and every other thing in this scraproom and cleaning out the things I don’t like, don’t want and/or things I’ll never use! And as I’m cleaning things out, I’m organizing it in my cubes and labeling each cube so I can go to the appropriate drawer, pull out what I want and know exactly where to put it back. So far, so good.

Easter for 10, please…

I had an order come in yesterday from a lady asking me if I could make 10 Easter cards. Her request was that they have an Easter Bunny and some eggs, so this is what I came up with. All the layouts are the same, just slightly different papers.

Did you notice that fence? It started out as a Martha Stewart Iron Fence Deep Edge Punch like this:

I snipped the bats off and voila………a cute fence to put the bunnies behind! I actually bought this punch (with a 50% off coupon, OF COURSE!!) to do just this. I rarely do any cards or projects for Halloween, but it works perfectly for this! :o)

This photo kind of shows the dimension. I popped up the two bunnies on the left and right, but not the one in the center. The fence and sentiment are popped up too.

SSCC - Sketch

For the current challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central our challenge is to use a sketch that Sheri created.

I’ve done another CD cover for the photographer that I’m working with. She does such a great job of capturing her subjects and this particular photo shoot is no exception! When I saw THIS PHOTO on Kelli’s Facebook page, I knew I had to use it. Isn’t that just the sweetest photo of a happy couple? Awwwwwe!!!

Okay, so this is the sketch:

And this is my CD cover:

I used Kelli’s photo, made it into a digital image and colored it with Copics. I wasn’t terribly happy with the way his skin tone turned out, but Kelli said the couple liked it. That’s what really matters, right? :o)

Fight Club For Deer

This is totally NOT CRAFT RELATED, but I wanted to share this hilarious video with my friends and followers. My husband shot this video out of our dining room window recently and I finally uploaded it to YouTube last night.

From the looks of it, this deer is fighting with himself? Pretending to fight with another deer? IDK – but watch him and listen to my daughter in the background. She’s such a mess! LOL

What a Swirl Tutorial

SSCC “Pink” Project AND a Tutorial

Our current challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central is “Pink”. Yep! We want to see your PINK projects.

For today’s project, I chose to do a card using the sketch from Friday Sketchers. It’s a little busy to me….and I didn’t even add the ribbon. ;o)

I live in a small town outside of Austin, TX.
I am a mother of three beautiful “children”, who are 16, 12 and 6. Wow….they’re making me old!

I am a total paper junkie! I have enough paper in my scraproom that I could open a store! But I can’t part with any of it. LOL
I love the beach. I would love to move to a tropical paradise when my hubby retires.

CHA photos

Sorry I wasn’t able to upload photos while I was at CHA. My roomy, Janine, and I didn’t have internet access unless we wanted to pay $10 per day, per computer for us to be able to use it for a few hours a day. The other option (and yes, we tried) was to get the WiFi at the convention center…….for $50 a day!!! We opted not. ;o)

So, here are a few photos taken while I was there. I didn’t take a ton….I wish I had. Lesson learned for next time! And I’ll make some videos too!

The next few photos are of the beautifully decorated Heartfelt Creations booth. All of these flowers are made using the Heartfelt Creations stamps and cut with Spellbinders dies. Yes! Even all of those flowers on the picket fence and in the birdbath are flowers made with their stamps. :o)

TUTORIAL - Draw & Cut With Cricut

HELLO friends!!!

I recently made this Cinderella CD Cover using the Happily Ever After Cricut cartridge, Design Studio and a Quickutz Silhouette pen. I know there are a lot of places out there selling the special housing for gel pens and such, but this is a MUCH cheaper alternative!!! ;o)

So, anyway…….I’ve done a quick tutorial showing how to use the Cricut, Cricut Design Studio and QuicKutz Silhouette pens to draw and then cut an image.

Cinderella CD Cover

Hello Friends!!

I’m here today with another CD Cover for Kellukas Photography. This one is for a little girl’s one-year birthday! Her party was in Disney Princesses. Woohoo! A girly cover!!! And you should see the precious photos Kelli took of this little girl (visit Kellukas Photography). There is one photo that is to-die-for precious where she has icing all over her face. CUTE!

Anyway, here is the front of CD cover. I also decorate the inside cover, however I can’t really show that to you because it has the child’s information. But it’s done with a cute font (Care Bears) and the two polka dot patterned papers you see here on the front. :o)

Bildmalarna – PINKS!!

HAPPY SUNDAY!!!

So…..I was laying on my couch this afternoon, enjoying a nice leisurely afternoon with an ice cold Coca Cola and my laptop while it rained outside, when all of a sudden, I realized that I had a Bildmalarna Design Team project due…….TODAY!!!! Yeah! So, I threw this wall decor thingy together, took photos, lost all of them somewhere in the transfer between camera and computer and had to go take more. *sigh* I think I’m going to go back to the couch now! LOL

Like many of you probably did, I bought a Gypsy at Michaels last weekend for a whopping $49! I never had a desire – AT ALL – to have one! I don’t know what possessed me! Maybe because I’ve been going to crops and the thought of hauling these cartridges with me makes me want to just stay home? IDK…..but I bought one…..and I love it! :o)

Disney Layout

My “goal”………not a resolution (which I usually break quickly – LOL)…..but my GOAL is to do more scrapbooking in 2011. I’ve got three kids, our wedding, vacation, pets and all points in between that I haven’t been scrapbooking. The photos are STACKING UP, so I definitely need to spend a LOT more time scrapbooking and less time making cards. So, here is the layout I made today.

This is my youngest daughter, Allison, the day after she was born. We got her home from the hospital and she was SO not a happy camper every time we put her down! And she was even less happy about being put down to cuddle up with these strange characters! LOL We said she was spoiled when she was delivered to us………….and she still is! ;o)

Double Emboss with Spellbinders

Hello there!

Thanks for stopping by! I have a short tutorial on double-embossing with Spellbinders dies. This has probably been done 100 million times, but I liked the way this die combo turned out when it was double embossed. :o)

As you can see, I just used a scrap piece of paper for this die cut. No reason to let all those scraps go to waste, is there???

The first step is to line your dies up however you want them. In this case, I wanted the Standard Circles Large centered within the Classic Scalloped Circles Large.

Once I got them lined up, I created my cutting sandwich and ran it through my Grand Caliber.

***IMPORTANT – Do not attempt to cut anything when your dies are touching! This could ruin your dies…and I don’t think any of us want that!!!

Once I have made my cut, I removed the excess paper, did my “sandwich” for embossing and ran it through the Grand Caliber again.

This is the way the die cut looks once it’s removed from your dies.

And, even though it’s hard to tell in this photo, this is the card I made with this “double embossed” die cut!

I used my airbrush to give it some color, then sprayed Glimmer Mist over my entire card, so I think it lost some of it’s embossing. I’ll remember that for next time!

I hope you found this useful and it gives you some ideas on other ways to use your Spellbinders dies.

All of the yellow is air-brushed with a Copic marker and my Airbrush System. I hadn’t been using my airbrush for a while, however I moved it to my work space and it’s getting some much-needed love now! Same goes for my Cricut. I moved it to a JetMax rolling side-table thing that my parents bought me for Christmas, so I’m hopeful that I’ll get much more use out of it!!

I got a new light box/tent today and this is my first project using it. I think I like it. :o)

Oh! And the moon has a little detail to his “face”, but it doesn’t show in the photo.

I’m not sure if you can tell from the photo, but the moon, hat, Spellbinders layer behind the moon and the Spellbinders “cloud” all have dimension to them.

All I did was ink my stamp, use the flower/flourish to stamp some corners and then randomly stamped flowers on the card. I cut various Spellbinders Labels Dies to layer my sentiment and inked. Super easy!!! Yes, I’ll be going back and adding another flower to the card right above this. It seems I missed a spot. LOL

SSCC – Anything Goes

HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas!! Oh wait…that was yesterday! Umm…Happy New Year (almost!)! It’s almost 2011! I’m still trying to figure out where the heck 2010 went!?!?! LOL If someone knows, can you please relay that information? ;o)

I was asked if I would start making CD covers for Kellukas Photography and since the current challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central is “Anything Goes”, I’m taking this opportunity to make my very first project for Kelli at Kellukas Photography!!!

This is for a photo shoot of a 9 day old baby girl. The parents said “no pink” when she did the photo shoot, so I showed Kelli THIS baby card and she wanted the CD cover like that. Soooo, I recreated it almost exactly like the other one and she loved it. She even said the ladies in the office loved it. Now let’s hope the baby’s parents love it too. he he!!

SSCC Black & Yellow Challenge

Today I’m going to share a quick & easy card for our Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central Black & Yellow challenge!

Directions: I randomly stamped two of the images from the SSD Stamps Beaded Circles set onto plain white cardstock with Versamark, sprinkled with yellow embossing powder and used my heat tool to set the embossing powder. Next, I stamped the flower vine with Versamark ink on another piece of white cardstock, sprinkled with embossing powder, heat set and repeated the same steps with the “Just A Hello” stamp. I cut it with Spellbinders Beaded Circles and mounted it onto my card with pop dots. I added my ribbon, bow, button & twine and she’s done!

This was SUCH a simple card, but it seemingly took me hours to do it! I’m in a funk and have had a hard time concentrating on anything today! My BIL is in ICU 5 hours away and in rough shape. It would be great if he could get some prayers from all of my awesome followers!! You all ROCK!!

Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central – Gift Card Holder

Hello!! I’m so happy to “see” you today!

Our current challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central is to create a Gift Card Holder. Hmm…….I’ve never created one of those before!! So, I did what any crafter in need would do! I went in search of some ideas via YouTube. I found THIS tutorial from ChickNScratch that was both easy and cute! Also, in my search, I found THIS tutorial that I just HAD to make to go with my gift card holder. Both extremely easy!! Here are some photos of the items I made:

Isn’t this paper just ADORABLE?! And that Sleeping Baby Tilda stamp is just to-die-for cute!!!

A photo of the front of the brag book and the opened gift card holder. The gift card slides into that middle section. It was soooo easy to make!!

Sorry for the dark photo! My camera didn’t want to flash on this one! ha!

This is the back of the gift card holder and brag book. I guess it really doesn’t matter which way you open the gift card holder. I made it so that whichever way you open it, the papers are the correct orientation and both outside sections have a piece of patterned paper pop-dotted onto it.

See that Sleeping Baby Tilda? Doesn’t that just make you melt?? Babies are so cuddly and cute! *sigh*

I added some Stampin Up Diamond Dust to her wings using the Sakura Quickie Glue Pen. I just LOVE this pen!

I also cut my image out and layered her on the Labels Seven set to make it look like she’s sleeping on the book. After all, this is a nursery rhyme theme brag book. :o)

The patterned paper I used on the inside cover of the brag book and the embellishments and papers on the gift card holder are from the store “Hey Diddle, Diddle”. Cute, glittered and glazed cardstock!!

I wanted my book to be a little sturdier than the one in the video, so I used chipboard to make my book. I’ve never made a chipboard book (that I recall), so this is another first for me! ha!

Directions for the brag book:

Measure the length & width of the envelopes and cut two pieces of chipboard 1/4” to 1/2” bigger than the height and width of the envelopes…depending on your preference!
Score the chipboard for the front cover 1” from one end. Repeat on the back cover. This will be the “spine” of your book. Go ahead and fold along your scored lines so you can start to form your book.
Cut four pieces of paper for the front and back inside & outside covers of the chipboard. To get the measurement for this, measure from the scored line to the end. You will cut your paper about 1/8 inch shorter than this and the height will be the same as your book. I used coordinating papers from the paper pack. This is your preference.
Cut two more pieces of paper for the outside front and back covers for the “spine” of your book. This will be approximately 7/8” wide and whatever the height of your book is. You don’t really need this piece of paper for the inside cover. It’s not going to show one way or the other! The reason I did it this way is because when you want to open your book, your paper needs some wiggle room. If you glue it all down as one piece or don’t take that extra 1/8” off of your measurements, it’s not going to open and close as easily. These measurements are hard to explain, so email me if you have any questions! :o)
Ink the edges of your papers and chipboard. I used “Lettuce” because it matches the colors in my paper pack.
Adhere your papers to the chipboard, taking care that you place the pieces on the correct inside/outside and front/back cover. This is also the point in time where you make sure your papers are going in the correct direction so your papers aren’t upside down when you’re done! It helps to put your chipboard pieces together and place the papers in the appropriate spot on your chipboard. I used my PINK ATG GUN to adhere the papers.
Color your image and gather whatever embellishments you’d like to use on your book.
I chose to use eyelets for my book so I could add some ribbon. The height of my book is 5”, so I measured and marked every 1” down the spine of my book. Once I got those measurements, I punched with my Crop-a-Dile 1/2” in on the spine and on every 1” mark. Remember, your measurements may be different, depending on the height of your book.
Set your eyelets in the holes you punched. I used 4 eyelets for the front cover and 4 eyelets for the back cover.
Grab your envelopes! You’ll need baby powder, corn starch or your embossing buddy for this step! Remove the adhesive cover from your first envelope, apply powder to get rid of the stickiness. Repeat for the remaining envelopes. I used 10 envelopes in my book, so there can be 20 photos in this brag book. That may be too many, but I’d rather provide too many pages than not enough! :o)
Now comes the most difficult part of this entire project……..punching the holes in those slippery little envelopes - LOL! Make sure you have all of your envelopes going in the same direction! I put my envelope openings to the front of the book with the open end of the envelopes on the end closest to the spine. Once you get them where you want them on your cover (doesn’t matter which one, really, but I would not recommend putting both covers on. You want to be able to see your envelopes to make sure they don’t shift when you punch your holes). I would recommend taking a binder clip and clipping them down in a couple of places to make sure they don’t move.
At this point, I took a paper-piercer and pierced through the holes of the eyelets, then went back and punched the holes with the 1/8” Crop-a-Dile.
Now line your covers and envelopes up according to the holes and add your ribbons.
Embellish and gift or enjoy for yourself.

House Mouse – Lavender/Purple Challenge

Hello there!!

First Grade Photo Digital Layout

Hello Blogger-Buddies!!

My daughter, Allison, had her school photo made a few weeks ago and I happened to be at the school exactly when they were getting ready to take photos. If you buy that I’ll sell you my ocean front property in Arizona!!! HA! But I really was at school for a PTA meeting so I volunteered to help the class during their picture session and the teacher happily accepted!

A few of the perks of volunteering on picture day:

you’re there to make sure your child’s hair is fairly decent and there is no food or “other” foreign particles on their face!!
the photographer takes a few shots and lets you choose which one you want – Saaweeeet!
your child doesn’t give the photographer “ the look” my sweet child gave in her school photos last year! Seriously!? She was FIVE!! They aren’t supposed to give anyone that look until they’re at least 13, right??? *sigh*

So….anyway….her school photos arrived last week. I always buy the package that includes the CD because when you do, you get a letter included in the CD, which states you have permission to have the photos printed wherever you want as long as they’re not for commercial use (or at least our photographer’s CD does!!). ALSO, you get the close-up shot of your child and the no-so-close-up shot of your child. Each of those shots is in color, black & white and sepia! Definitely worth it to me to buy the package with the CD…and then I can scrap them digitally!! ha!

This is the page I created with this year’s photo and My Digital Studio software. All elements, papers, stamps, etc are by Stampin Up. The colors I chose are Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip. (to match her headband!). ;o) The flourishes are from the Baroque Motifs stamp set. If you haven’t used this software, YOU SHOULD! It is SOOOOO user-friendly!! And the most fabulous part of it? You can use digital elements available through the digital stores online – papers, flowers, frames, clusters, quick pages, ribbons, etc. I seriously LOVE this software!!

Note: You can’t use the templates – or at least not that I’ve figured out anyway. If you use this software and know how to do that, please let me know!
