It’s FALL, Y’ALL….

DSC02459

Happy Fall to you!

This is actually a very short post.  Not many details on this card.  No patterned paper, no fancy punches…just straight up stamping & coloring!  I’ve actually had this image colored for a week or so, but I’m just sitting down to actually make it into a card.  ;o)

  • Image – OLD MILL CREEK by Heartfelt Creations
  • Copics - YR16, YR65, Y17, Y15, R11, RV42, 0, B00, C3, C5, B26, B32, B24, G12, E13, E99, E33, YG17, G82, E27, E37, G24, YG63, E47, E57, C7, YG11, YG45, E49
  • Diamond Glaze – water
  • Tulip Fabric Glitter Spray – to make an overall shimmer on the card.  It’s hard to get fine glitter to photograph well, so you probably can’t see it…and since it’s cloudy & rainy outside, I won’t be taking it outside to photograph it.
  • Shimmer in sunset - Shimmerz Angel Wings

Hope you’re all having a great day!  Please come back and check with me again in the next few days.  I’m doing a second term with The Character Cafe, so I’ll be posting lots of new goodies!  This term is for 6 months.  Our first blog hop (with discounts and lots of great projects) is THIS FRIDAY!!!!  So….be sure to check back to see what our team has to show off.

Hugs,

Billie

This is a card I made for a challenge on The Frugal Scrapper Yahoo Group.  Two of our members have written about girls who are either ill or injured, so we’ve decided to make it a group effort to send some cheer their way in the form of cards.  Here is my first card…one headed to Paige at Boston Children’s Hospital.  She was in a boating accident and has had part of her arm amputated.  I hope this brightens her day…even if only a little!

I used:

  • Card blank – 9x8, folded to get 9x4 (fits #10 envelope)
  • Image - Sarah Kay
  • Patterned Paper – SEI (10 cents at convention!)
  • Lace Punch - Martha Stewart
  • Pink Button – from my stash
  • Ribbon – from my stash
  • Skittles – clear ones from my stash
  • Shimmer/Glitter in Hair - At You Spica Pen in Clear
  • Copics – E37, E27, E99, E33, RV00, RV02, E21, E50, B32, YG17, G24, BV13, BV00, RV13, B24, RV06, BG10

Here is a close-up of her hair so you can see the effect of the Spica pen.  You may have to click the image to get the bigger view.  It’s really pretty and shimmery in person!

Thanks for stopping by!  See ya soon!!!

Card Contest

DSC02399

Two of my yahoo groups are having a contest for a December holiday theme!  I chose to do this ornament card and envelope.  I used:

  • Card base & envelope – Cricut Wild Card page 74
  • Red canvas texture cardstock
  • Tree – colored with YG17 Copic
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Sizzix embossing folder – Wedding Set #2
  • Ribbon – from my stash
  • VersaMagic Dew Drop Chalk Ink for a weathered look
  • Bling on embossed surface – Icicle Stickles

Aluminum foil technique (in case you haven’t seen this done!):

Take your desired piece of cardstock and run it through your Xyron.  The cardstock I used was Georgia Pacific 110 lb cardstock.  Once you’ve run it through your Xyron, burnish the Xyron side to make sure the adhesive is adhered well to your cardstock.  Remove the Xyron paper from the back of your cardstock and affix to your aluminum foil.  Take your burnishing tool and burnish from the mid-section of your foil to the outer section of your piece to smooth it out and remove the air bubbles!  Once you’ve done that, trim away any excess foil and affix the cardstock side to your Cricut mat.  Cut at blade depth 6, medium speed and medium pressure.  You will need to do a multi-cut of two to make sure it cuts through your cardstock well!  Once you have your piece cut, emboss with desired embossing folder and adhere to your project.

*Disclaimer* – I used Reynolds Wrap Heavy Duty aluminum foil, so your experience may be different with different brands and/or thickness of foil.

I hope to get some more cards posted in the next few days, but I won’t promise!  My parents are coming in on Tuesday to spend the week and we’re going to CKC Convention on Saturday – WOOHOO!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

A Fallen Texas Marine…

I don’t watch live TV often, but we’ve had a lot of rain the last few days, so I decided to watch our news on Thursday to see what the weather was going to do.  During the news program, they mentioned a local Marine who was killed on Tuesday.  I don’t know the family, but it really touched me.  The man’s wife is pregnant with their first child…a child who will never meet his/her father!  That saddened me and caused me to make this card for his wife.  I have never made a sympathy card before, so I hope this one is okay.

Final photo – a shot of the inside of the card.  I used a Copic marker to add the red around the outer part of the star and then went around the star with diamond stickles.  Don’t look at my messy handwriting…EEK!

I used:

  • Card Base - Cricut Wild Card Cartridge page 59
  • Card Envelope – Cricut Wild Card Cartridge Page 59
  • Sentiment – Cricut Wild Card Cartridge page 32
  • Patterned Paper - The Paper Studio All Seasons Stack
  • Bling on inside of card - Diamond Stickles
  • Copic – B34 and R29
  • Black Gel Pen – detail on sentiment
