TCC Feature Friday & Copic Color Challenge!!

DSC02791

For today’s Feature Friday card for The Character Cafe, I have chosen to do another Christmas card.  I know it’s only October and it was 80+ degrees in Texas today, but WHATEVER!  Christmas is coming whether we want it to or not, so we might as well get ready!  ;o)

This card is also for the Copic Color Challenge blog!

DSC02798

This is a shot of what the card looks like opened up.

Make sure if you do one of these, you have enough embellishments, time and creativity because this one seems to take a lot of all of them…just ask my brain after doing this one!!!  ;o)

Details:

  • Snowman – The Character Cafe
  • Card – Tri-Shutter Card (search You Tube for videos)
  • Paper – red is Heidi Grace Midnight Kisses and Green is Cloud Nine Design Luster Sprigs – both were from Big Lots!
  • Rub-on’s – last year’s after-Christmas clearance at Michaels
  • Vellum Quotes
  • Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (to make the image shiny)
  • Skittles
  • Prima Flowers – Garnet bottle
  • Snowflake - Recollections Brad with SU embossing powder
  • Copics – BG96, E33, BV20, YR68, BG10, C5, B60, YG03, R20
  • December Tag - Plantin Schoolbook cut at 1”

NOTE:  I made the mistake of showing this card to my hubby!  He asked if this was going to be our Christmas card.  “Uhhhh, nope!  It’s my DT card.”  He says “Well, can’t it be our Christmas card?”  Crud!  One down…49 more to go!  LOL

Please be sure to check out the rest of our DT to see what they have going on this week!  And whatever you do, DON’T forget to check back next Friday for our new release blog hop!!!!

Fall Themed Basket

DSC02738

Okay, so I made a “Fall” themed basket yesterday and took it to the school today.  I wasn’t terribly impressed, but several people walking past me made comments about how pretty, so I guess I was too harsh on it.  Or maybe because it was a complete PITA and all I wanted to do was eat that chocolate that was in there to give me a reward for not throwing it across the house!!!!!  Anyway, the photo above is the of the basket sitting on my staircase.  I decided I’d show you this photo so you’ll know what that green stuff is by the bucket in the close-up photos!  ha!

DSC02731

I think this photo is kind of cool because of the way the Jack-o-Lantern is reflecting on the wall.  ha ha!!!

DSC02697

A kind of “odd” overhead shot.  Makes me dizzy, how about you?

DSC02714

A closer look at the left side of the basket.

DSC02715

A closer look at the middle of the basket.

DSC02720

And last but not least, a closer look at the right hand side of the basket.  Yeah, I realized that I should have embossed the apples AFTER I got the flower wire glued into the center of them!  UGH!  Oh well….

And in case you care about details:

  • Leaves - A Child’s Year
  • Jack-o-Lantern – A Child’s Year
  • Crow – A Child’s Year
  • Apple – A Child’s Year
  • Scarecrow – Paper Doll Dress Up
  • Sunflower – Walk In My Garden
  • Crow – Googly Eyes
  • Stazon Inks in various colors for shading and effect on the cuts

And so you can avoid MY issues, DON’T use floral wire!  It’s not sturdy enough and they lean and flop over!  I made the mistake of making them all and THEN sticking them down into the basket…therefore ALL of my cuts were “done” with the floral wire!  I was ready to throw them all in the trash and call it a loss when Judy suggested that I wrap the floral wire around the skewer to see if that worked.  I told her I loved her…I don’t think she really believed me!  But it worked, so THANK YOU JUDY!!!  :o)

Oh, BTW, my daughter’s teacher said that all the goodies were gone by the end of the day.  So if nothing else, they enjoyed the goodies!

If you have any questions, let me know!

Feature Friday Color Palette!

DSC02685

Hi Bloggers!  Thanks for stopping by today to check out my Joy Fold Feature Friday Color Palette post.  (say that three times fast!)  This week is a COLOR challenge comes to you by our Design Team Member Rachel.  She has chosen the colors “tulip, juniper, creme brulee and pink” from the Close to My Heart markers.  Since I don’t have any CTMH markers, I substituted for similar colors in the Copic markers.

DSC02672

This is what my card looks like when it’s partially opened.

Feature Friday – Copic Creations Challenge #14

DSC02581

Hello and thanks for stopping by to visit my blog!  I have prepared a birthday card today using:

  • Image – Cupcake Pewter from The Character Cafe
  • Patterned Paper – Pressed Petals Pack from Big Lots
  • Orange Cardstock – Cardstock Online
  • Copics – C5, C7, C9, 0, Y08, R05, B34, R30, BG10, R27
  • White detail – Sakura Souffle Pen
  • Black Ribbon – Offray from Michaels
  • Sentiment – Inkadinkado???

The card base was made using a full sheet of 8.5x11 cardstock, scored at 4.25 to make two A2 cards.  Cut your front flaps on the diagonal to get the layered effect as shown above.  If that doesn’t make sense, email me and I’ll see if I can explain it better.  ;o)

This project was made for the Copic Creations Challenge #14 – coloring black!

Please be sure to stop by and see what my other team mates with The Character Cafe have prepared for you today!

Criss Cross Birthday Card

DSC02550

Check this out…I made my very first Criss Cross card – WOOHOO!!!  And it was REALLY easy!

Details:

  • Image – Sarah Kay
  • Solid Papers – Cardstock online & Stampin Up
  • Patterned Paper – SEI
  • Sentiment – one I made
  • Embossing – Swiss Dots
  • Scallop – SCAL SVG
  • Copics – E97, E39, G82, YG67, G12, G24, RV23, RV00, E33, E99, B32, 0, E50, B24, YG11, B12, BV02
  • Black Sharpie – detail on scallop circle
  • Glitter – Tulip Fabric Glitter Spray
  • Tab - Martha Stewart Circle Punch

DSC02564

Here is what the card and image looks like with the image pulled out.  That’s the first time I’ve ever signed my name to an image I made.  What made me decide to do it this time?  BEATS ME!?  I guess because it wasn’t attached to the card…?  I don’t know!  I just had the Sharpie pen sitting beside the image, so I grabbed it and signed.  Weird!  ha!

DSC02544

Here is a close up of the image.  Isn’t this image just the cutest?  Yes, I’m still working on my backgrounds…ugh!

Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think of this and if you’d like to see more cards made like this!

Thanks!

Before we get down to the business of issuing another challenge, I want to announce & congratulation the winner of the Christmas Eve digital stamp for leaving a comment here during our blog hop last Friday! According to Random.org, a big congratulations goes to:

I love this calendar page. I have been wanting to make a calendar for a while. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Tina, please email me for your prize!

DSC02497

THANK YOU for stopping by today to check out the first Feature Friday challenge for this term with our new DT! I {Billie} was asked to post this week’s challenge! I must say, I am LOVING these new images! I’m not sure which is my favorite out of this image or Christmas Scamp! I just don’t know, but I do intend to use them both in the next few weeks! I am also using this post for the Copic Creations Challenge!

This was actually a very simple card. I let the image be the main focus, with earth tone papers, a little bling and very few embellishments! The details of this project:

  • Pumpkins Image – The Character Cafe
  • Light Orange Paper – Stampin Up!
  • Green and dark orange textured paper – www.cardstockonline.net
  • Copics – YR16, E57, E97, E33, YG63, E13, G24
  • Skittles – dyed with a mixture of Sunset Orange and Sunshine Yellow
  • Stitching – straight stitch with a machine
  • Bling (probably have to click photo to see it) – Tulip Fabric Glitter Spray

DSC02490

A close-up of the colored image. Can you see the sparkle? If not, you may have to click the photo to get a bigger view.

So…what is your challenge for today?

To use STITCHING on your project!

It can be any type of project, and the stitching can be machine stitching, hand stitching, faux stitching with a doodle pen, etc…but it must include some type of “stitching”! This challenge ends at 11:59 PM CST on Thursday, October 15, 2009. At that time, a new challenge will be issued and the winner of this challenge will be posted shortly thereafter.

Please make sure you visit The Character Cafe Blog to link your challenge project and NOT HERE! Entries placed here will not count toward the challenge…but comments here are always appreciated! :o)

Our DT members have done a GREAT job with their inspiration this week. I have included photos of their work below, but also feel free to click on the DT member's name for more details and possibly more photos.

Sympathy Card…

DSC02529

A member of my husband’s family member has lost her father.  I pulled together this very simple sympathy card to send to her.

  • Card blank – white A2 sized cardstock with black & white layers
  • Font – Edwardian Script printed from computer
  • Heart Flourish – my creation in SCAL
  • Ribbon – from stash…just used the last of it too!
  • Embossing – Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Folder
  • Pink Bling – Swarovski Crystals

Honestly, I’m not sure I like the finished effect. I would love to hear what you think……?

Thanks for stopping by!

New Knees???

DSC02505

Sorry for the glare on the photo!  I put it into the clear envelope and sealed it up before I remembered to take photos!  DUH!!!!

Anyway…a lady that is on several of the same yahoo groups I’m on had knee replacement surgery 11 days ago…on BOTH knees!  I couldn’t think of a good sentiment for the outside, so, I’m sending her this card with a cute little handwritten message on the inside.  I used:

  • Image – Jack & Ginger from Mo’s Digital Pencil
  • Copics – E33, E13, C1, C3, C5, C7, 0, BV20, E50, B24, Y11, RB32, G12, B32, B26, RV34
  • Patterned Paper - Foofalah Pack
  • Flowers – Primas
  • Flower Centers – Skittles
  • Nesting shapes – SCAL and Cricut
  • Stitching – faux stitches with Sharpie pen

Here is another card I did to have on hand.  It’s the same couple, but done a little differently.  And yes, I remembered to take the photo before I put it into the bag.  ;o)

DSC02513

  • Image – Jack & Ginger from Mo’s Digital Pencil
  • Copics – YR02, Y11, C1, C3, C5, C7, E50, B24, G12, E33, 0, B32
  • Patterned Paper – Foofalah Pack
  • Flowers – Primas (same bottle, slightly different color)
  • Flower Centers – Skittles
  • Nesting shapes – SCAL and Cricut

I used slightly different Copics on this one, different colored flowers, switched the papers around and didn’t do faux stitching.

Thanks for stopping by!
