Altered Clock

DSC03896

If you are ANYTHING like me, you are constantly losing track of time in your scrap area and before you know it, it’s time for the family to be home, dinner to be cooked and/or bed time!  Not that it’s a bad thing to lose track of time in your scrap area, but make it a habit and I think our families might have a REAL problem with it!  ;o)

So, back before Christmas, I happened to be shopping at Ikea and found this Rusch Clock.  Fortunately, they had one on display that I was able to pick up and turn over and over in my hand to see if it was “alterable”.  Eureka!  It pops apart!  And for $2.99, not only did I buy one…….I bought THREE!  My intention was to make these for Christmas gifts, but well……….I shamefully admit that this is the first one I’ve even taken out of the box!  EVECA0~1

ANYWAY!  So today was the day for one of these clocks to get altered.  I bought a Best Occasions Scrap Pack from Tuesday Morning last week and decided to use this pink flowery paper!  I popped the clock face off (little tabs on the back), then removed the clock parts (again, little tabs on the back).  I removed the paper that has the #s on it and used that as my template to trace the circle for the background onto my chosen paper.  I also used the paper with the #s and punched all the #s out with my circle punch.  Not a perfect solution…I’ll probably do this a little differently next time!  I cut an extra flower out of the same flowery paper, curled it a little bit and placed in the center.  I poked the hole in the center and put everything back together (obviously clock parts first, followed by the clock face).  And this is what it looks like all finished……….

Yes, I did think of doing a photo of my family or a stamped and colored image, but well……..this took the least amount of brain-power today!  ;o)

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Magnolia Stamp Lovers Challenge!

DSC03874

Hi there!  EVERYD~1

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ve joined a challenge………..A MAGNOLIA CHALLENGE at that!  This is THE FIRST Magnolia image I’ve ever done, so I’m a little shocked by this myself!  I got this as a stamped image from a friend and thought she’d look cute for this challenge.  The challenge is Magnolia Stamp Lovers and this week’s challenge is a SKETCH!  I just love sketches!!!  This is what the sketch looks like.

Steph's sketch

The above photo is what the close-up of Tilda looks like.  I have colored her a little at a time over the last 4 days between waiting here and there!  I finished her today and made her into a card.  I used the following supplies:

  • Patterned Paper – Pressed Petals Baby Boy Glitter Pack
  • Tila – Sweetheart Tilda
  • Flower Frame – Making Memories Sheer Frames Combo
  • Copics – E00, E02, E37, E39, E33, V12, V15 and V17
  • Sentiment – My Sentiments Exactly!

And the card above is my interpretation of the sketch!  Can you see the glitter?  No?  Click the photo to see it a little bigger.  :o)

Photo of the inside of the card.  Nothing fancy schmancy!  LOL

Thanks for stopping by!  Please stop by again on Friday for another post.  :o)

Challenge #1, should you choose to play along (and we all hope you do!) is to make a card using ANY House Mouse (or one of their adorable Happy Hoppers or Gruffies friends) along with the following sketch!

sketch 2

I made my card using the House Mouse Love Letter Stamp with “Love You” sentiment.  It is a 5x7 card.  I am mailing it, so chose not to use pop-dots or any type of 3D embellishments.  For the sentiment, I used two different colors of Copic markers.  If you don’t know how to use Copics on stamped images, email me!

TCC Feature Friday – Puppy Love!

DSC03826

This week our Feature Friday challenge was to create a project using Lauren Meader’s Cutesy Cover

I used:

  • Patterned Paper - Martha Stewart Baby Girl Pack
  • Image - Puppy Love from The Character Cafe
  • Skittles – from my stash
  • Ribbon – from my stash
  • Copics - C1, c3, C5, C7, C9 R27, R37, E31, E29, E37, E49, B24, G07
  • Eyelets – Oriental Trading
  • Crop-a-Dile

I used foam tape to pop the image up off of the box and did a belly band around the middle.  I did the ticket punch corners and added Skittles to each corner.

I usually steer clear of 3D projects.  For some reason, they scare me!  LOL  But I must say, this was VERY easy!!!  I simply cut it with the Cricut, glued it together and decorated.  I used double-sided papers, so I didn’t even need to use the inserts.  ;o)

I think I may have to try to do more 3D projects in the future.  Stay tuned.  :o)

Don’t forget to check out what our other DT members have in store for you this week!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check back TOMORROW for the first House Mouse And Friends challenge to be announced.

The Character Cafe – Feature Friday

DSC03796 (2)

Just a little sneak peek of the image I used for today’s project.

I had 26 comments from last week’s blog post.  I plugged that into Random.org and it chose WINNER #15…Heather in FL!

Heather in FL said...Isn't that dob precious? So cute. Great card!

Congratulations, Heather!

Today is my “off” week for The Character Cafe, so I get to choose any challenge I want in blogville to participate in.  I’ve chosen to participate in the Cuttlebug Challenge blog.  Their challenge is to create a pocket card, using red as the main color.  This card came together relatively easily.  I think I may be getting back into the groove…?  I sure hope so, because I got a LOT of toys for Christmas that I need to play with!!!

DSC03796 (3) Another peek of today’s project.  Yes, I’ll show you the full thing eventually!!

For today’s project, I’ve used “Birdie Love”.  For all of you bird-watchers out there…No….I didn’t color this bird to look like any bird in particular, but if it looks like a bird in this world, well….COOL!  LOL  I just chose some colors and started coloring!

DSC03779See?  I told you I’d show you eventually!

Here is an album with more photos, if you care to see anything up-close.

For this project, I used:

  • Image – The Character Cafe
  • Copics - YR68, YR65, R27, R24, Y06, Y08, YR02, B24
  • Stampin Up Color Spritzer
  • Patterned Paper – Making Memories Stardust Hearts
  • Embossing – Cuttlebug Heart Blocks
  • Ribbon – from my stash
  • Fragrance – Scent My Cards Pecan Pie

I have no idea why I used Scent My Cards Pecan Pie to scent my card.  I have about 8 of these bottles of smelly-wonderfulness and I liked this one the most at the moment.  I also highly recommend Scent My Cards Strawberry.  OH YUM!!!!

I used the Stampin Up Color Spritzer with my B24 Copic marker to lightly spray the background of the pull-out section of my card.  I used the Copic ABS1 (maybe it was ABS2) at my Copic Certification class and it was SO COOL.  But, I already had this…so I decided to use it.

DSC03772 Here is another shot of today’s project.  Yes, I also did a candle.  Don’t know how to make your own candles using stamped images or printed pictures?  Click HERE!  So far I’ve done 6 candles with photos on them, but this is the first one I’ve done with an image to be colored.  It was really easy!  I followed the same steps as what I did on the link above, however I colored it before adding it to the image.  I love the effect and will be doing more of these as time permits.

DSC03777 Here is a shot of just the candle.  Pardon my shadows and poor lighting!  We're having a very nasty, rainy day in Texas so there is no ‘natural light’ to be found!!!  But, we need the rain, so I’m not going to complain!!

DSC03800 If you’ve stuck with me this far, this is my final photo.  I know I put a lot of photos in today’s post, but when you’re doing 2 projects that are broken into 3 pieces, ya just gotta!  ;o)

THANK YOU for stopping by today!  If you like what you see or want to see more of something specific, please leave me a comment and let me know!

Please make sure you drop by our other DT members' blogs to see what they have in store for you today!

I hope you have a FABULOUS weekend!  I look forward to seeing you back here next week!  I’ll have another project for The Character Cafe AND my very first project for my newest DT – House Mouse and Friends!

The Character Cafe JANUARY Release BLOG HOP!!

DSC03738

Hi,there!  Billie here.  Yes, I’m still alive…just been busy with the holidays and now getting back into the routine of my people being back at work and school.  Wednesday was my first day to be home alone since 12/18!  It was so quiet!!!  And for some reason my “Mojo” went on vacation and never came back!  What is UP with that?!?!?  But the holidays were fun.  We had some COLD weather (for Texas) with hard freezes a LOT of the nights of our ‘vacation’ away from work & school.  But that meant a lot of indoor time to play with our new toys!  Everyone, but me that is…because I got mostly scrappy goodies and my Mojo was gone!  LOL

Anyway, on to the blog hop info!!!  You should have hopped on over here from Piali’s blog!  If not, you need to go back to The Character Cafe and start there to make sure you pick up all the code letters along the way.

There will be a 30% discount on your entire purchase of TCC images with the correct codeThe code is good until January 15th!  SWEET!!!!

For today’s blog hop image, I was assigned CALVIN!  He is a cute St. Bernard that was soooo easy to color!  When I look at the way I colored mine, I think he looks more like a puppy than a full grown pooch.  ;o)

DSC03735

Here is what I used – SUPER SIMPLE card here (remember, my Mojo is still MIA):

  • Patterned Papers – Heidi Grace Designs Day Dream Believer/Floral Double-Sided Cardstock
  • Fancy Frame – Cricut Cut
  • Foam Tape to raise frame from image
  • Copics – C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, 0, E33, E99, 3E9 and R11
  • Background – B24 and YR20 Copics in the Stampin Up Color Spritzer

Like I said, easy!!!  I left it without a sentiment so I can use it for whatever I want - “miss you”, “thinking of you”, “so lonely without you”, etc.  I’m going to try to do that a little more in 2010 so my cards are more “multi-functional” and all I have to do is add a sentiment.

Make sure you leave comments on all of the blogs along the way for a chance to win:

  • the image that each DT member is working with.
  • the grand price drawing of FOUR new release images (Wiggies, Oh Lolly Lolly, Puppy Love and Calvin)
  • Also, please make sure you post what kind of cards you make most often so that we know what images you want to see more of.  I’d love to see that more here too, so I can start making more of what YOU want to see!

And in case you get lost along the way, this is the order of the blog hop and the name of the image that each DT member is working with!

  1.  The Character Cafe
  2. Kendra - Wiggies
  3. Sara - Love Bug Cupid
  4. Piali - Oh Lolly Lolly
  5. Billie - Calvin
  6. Heather - Birdie Love
  7. Fink - Cuddle Buddies
  8. Lola - Relaxing Rosebud
  9. Meredith - Love Bug Cupid
  10. Rachel - Oh Lolly Lolly
  11. Deanne - Calvin
  12. Angie C - Birdie Love
  13. Angie E - Cuddle Buddies
  14. Diane - Relaxing Rosebud
  15. Kelly - Puppy Love

My code letter for you today is 08AEFF~1.  Please note:  This letter is a LOWER CASE letter.  The code IS case-sensitive!

Now that you are done here, hop on over to Heather to see what she has to show off for you today!!!

Enjoy your weekend and HAPPY CRAFTING!!!
