It’s FALL, Y’ALL….

DSC02459

Happy Fall to you!

This is actually a very short post.  Not many details on this card.  No patterned paper, no fancy punches…just straight up stamping & coloring!  I’ve actually had this image colored for a week or so, but I’m just sitting down to actually make it into a card.  ;o)

  • Image – OLD MILL CREEK by Heartfelt Creations
  • Copics - YR16, YR65, Y17, Y15, R11, RV42, 0, B00, C3, C5, B26, B32, B24, G12, E13, E99, E33, YG17, G82, E27, E37, G24, YG63, E47, E57, C7, YG11, YG45, E49
  • Diamond Glaze – water
  • Tulip Fabric Glitter Spray – to make an overall shimmer on the card.  It’s hard to get fine glitter to photograph well, so you probably can’t see it…and since it’s cloudy & rainy outside, I won’t be taking it outside to photograph it.
  • Shimmer in sunset - Shimmerz Angel Wings

Hope you’re all having a great day!  Please come back and check with me again in the next few days.  I’m doing a second term with The Character Cafe, so I’ll be posting lots of new goodies!  This term is for 6 months.  Our first blog hop (with discounts and lots of great projects) is THIS FRIDAY!!!!  So….be sure to check back to see what our team has to show off.

Hugs,

Billie

This is a card I made for a challenge on The Frugal Scrapper Yahoo Group.  Two of our members have written about girls who are either ill or injured, so we’ve decided to make it a group effort to send some cheer their way in the form of cards.  Here is my first card…one headed to Paige at Boston Children’s Hospital.  She was in a boating accident and has had part of her arm amputated.  I hope this brightens her day…even if only a little!

I used:

  • Card blank – 9x8, folded to get 9x4 (fits #10 envelope)
  • Image - Sarah Kay
  • Patterned Paper – SEI (10 cents at convention!)
  • Lace Punch - Martha Stewart
  • Pink Button – from my stash
  • Ribbon – from my stash
  • Skittles – clear ones from my stash
  • Shimmer/Glitter in Hair - At You Spica Pen in Clear
  • Copics – E37, E27, E99, E33, RV00, RV02, E21, E50, B32, YG17, G24, BV13, BV00, RV13, B24, RV06, BG10

Here is a close-up of her hair so you can see the effect of the Spica pen.  You may have to click the image to get the bigger view.  It’s really pretty and shimmery in person!

Thanks for stopping by!  See ya soon!!!

Card Contest

DSC02399

Two of my yahoo groups are having a contest for a December holiday theme!  I chose to do this ornament card and envelope.  I used:

  • Card base & envelope – Cricut Wild Card page 74
  • Red canvas texture cardstock
  • Tree – colored with YG17 Copic
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Sizzix embossing folder – Wedding Set #2
  • Ribbon – from my stash
  • VersaMagic Dew Drop Chalk Ink for a weathered look
  • Bling on embossed surface – Icicle Stickles

Aluminum foil technique (in case you haven’t seen this done!):

Take your desired piece of cardstock and run it through your Xyron.  The cardstock I used was Georgia Pacific 110 lb cardstock.  Once you’ve run it through your Xyron, burnish the Xyron side to make sure the adhesive is adhered well to your cardstock.  Remove the Xyron paper from the back of your cardstock and affix to your aluminum foil.  Take your burnishing tool and burnish from the mid-section of your foil to the outer section of your piece to smooth it out and remove the air bubbles!  Once you’ve done that, trim away any excess foil and affix the cardstock side to your Cricut mat.  Cut at blade depth 6, medium speed and medium pressure.  You will need to do a multi-cut of two to make sure it cuts through your cardstock well!  Once you have your piece cut, emboss with desired embossing folder and adhere to your project.

*Disclaimer* – I used Reynolds Wrap Heavy Duty aluminum foil, so your experience may be different with different brands and/or thickness of foil.

I hope to get some more cards posted in the next few days, but I won’t promise!  My parents are coming in on Tuesday to spend the week and we’re going to CKC Convention on Saturday – WOOHOO!!!!!

A Fallen Texas Marine…

I don’t watch live TV often, but we’ve had a lot of rain the last few days, so I decided to watch our news on Thursday to see what the weather was going to do.  During the news program, they mentioned a local Marine who was killed on Tuesday.  I don’t know the family, but it really touched me.  The man’s wife is pregnant with their first child…a child who will never meet his/her father!  That saddened me and caused me to make this card for his wife.  I have never made a sympathy card before, so I hope this one is okay.

A close-up of the sentiment on the front of the card.  I used a black gel pen to do little dots around the edges of the sentiment.

Another shot of the front of the card with it opened and standing up.

Final photo – a shot of the inside of the card.  I used a Copic marker to add the red around the outer part of the star and then went around the star with diamond stickles.  Don’t look at my messy handwriting…EEK!

I used:

  • Card Base - Cricut Wild Card Cartridge page 59
  • Card Envelope – Cricut Wild Card Cartridge Page 59
  • Sentiment – Cricut Wild Card Cartridge page 32
  • Patterned Paper - The Paper Studio All Seasons Stack
  • Bling on inside of card - Diamond Stickles
  • Copic – B34 and R29
  • Black Gel Pen – detail on sentiment

Baby – Congratulations Card

DSC02309

Yesterday I showed you the Jack-o-Lantern card from the Cricut Wild Card Cartridge.  Today I am showing you this diaper pin card.  It’s really cute in person, but I couldn’t get the colors to photograph correctly.  *sigh*

I used:

  • Pastel blue bubbles vellum (this is CUTE paper!)
  • White and Yellow Cardstock
  • Silver shimmer paper
  • Skittles
  • Baby feet stamp
  • Copics – YR09 (duck beak) and B32 & B63 (Congratulations)
  • Ribbon

This one is also kind of small in size.  The envelope is long and skinny…about 2/3 the size of a #10 business envelope!

Thanks for stopping by…I hope to have something else to post for tomorrow!  :o)

Pumpkin/Jack-o-Lantern Card

DSC02352

I joined in on a card swap in one of my yahoo groups and decided to make this cute little pumpkin card from the Wild Card cartridge.  The only thing I don’t like about it is that it cuts the envelope so darned small…which means that the card has to be small too!  3 3/4 inches small, to be exact!  But, it’s still cute!  Next time I’ll just do the card without the envelope so I can do it bigger.  :o)

What I used:

  • Cardstock – orange green and brown canvas texture
  • Stickles – Black Diamond – for eyes and mouth
  • White Sakura Pen – for stem & grass detail
  • Black gel pen – for pumpkin detail

All in all, a very simple card and envelope!

Thanks for stopping by!  Check back periodically over the next week.  I’ll be posting several projects…assuming I can get them all done!  ;o)

The Character Cafe – Feature Friday

DSC02328

Hi, and thanks for stopping by to check out my Feature Friday post!  This one was SUPER simple!  I used:

  • Black textured cardstock for card base
  • Patterned paper – The Paper Studio All Seasons (I think!)
  • Boo Witchy – The Character Cafe
  • Googly Eyes – from my stash
  • Diamond Stickles – to bling the spider web
  • Copics – C5, C7, 100, E50, E21, RV25, E99, E37, YR07, YR09

DSC02330

Yes, I added stickles to every little piece of the web!  About halfway through I was seriously wondering what the heck I was thinking because it was such small lines and there were so many of them!  See all the lines!?!  But now that it’s all done, I like how it added the shimmer that a spider web with dew on it would have when the light hits it.  :o)

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Mummy Halloween Card

DSC02299

This is the front of my mummy card.  It’s for a girl, so I decided to do a bow for her “hair”!  ;o)

DSC02305

This is the back of the card.

DSC02302

And finally…the inside of the card.  I decided to go with the “ripped and inked” edges throughout the card.  The inside of the card looks just whatever, but it’s for a kid.  Need I say more……?  ha!

What I used:

  • White Cardstock
  • Timber Brown Stazon Ink
  • Pink Gel Pen
  • Cricut
  • White Ribbon
  • Pink Prima Flower
  • Skittle
  • Googly Eyes

I hope you are having a GREAT Labor Day weekend!

Thanks for stopping by and I will, hopefully, see you again soon!

Color Block Page

SSPX1330

Sorry for the low resolution photo!  My wonderful husband has the charger for our new camera in his car…and the older camera!  So I had to resort to photos with my phone!  Men!  LOL

I created this page today to be able to scrap my daughter’s first “real” haircut at an actual hair-cutting place!  I’ve always done it before because she never wants anyone else to mess with her hair.  But this time we went and got our hair cut together.  I took photos, but haven’t had them printed yet, thus the reason for the blank mats!  ;o)

This is my first color block page.  Far from perfect, but I think it turned out okay!  I see a few issues that you probably see too, but I can live with them and move on!  ha!

I used:

  • paper – SCRAPS
  • inchies – okay, they were 2-inchies.  ha ha ha!!! – done with a Marvy punch
  • tag – Plantin Schoolbook
  • Scissors – A Child’s Year Cricut Cartridge on silver shimmer paper
  • Cuttlebug Embossing folders – several of them!
  • Flowers on tag – Primas from the “brown” bottle
  • Brads – from my stash

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Work It Wednesday – Using STICKLES!

When my group accepted The Character Cafe Design Team position, we were asked to prepare a Work It Wednesday post for a chosen date and topic during our term.  I {Billie} chose Stickles as my tutorial for today.  I hope you have learned something from our past Work It Wednesday posts and that you can use some of this information too.  :O)

Stickles are a small bottle of Acid Free “glitter glue” used to add BLING to pretty much any project.  They are available in an array of colors!  Michaels and Hobby Lobby carries them, as well as many, many online retailers.  They run $1.50 to $2 a bottle, depending on where you purchase them!

Here I will show several ways I’ve used Stickles, as well as included 101 uses for Stickles, which you may copy & paste into a Word document.  This is not my creation and I honestly don’t know where it originated.  It has been bouncing around in a few of the Yahoo groups I belong to!  If this is your information, please let me know and I’ll give credit where credit is due!  :o)

DSC02250

For the first photo, I used our school colors (maroon and gold) to cut the word “Read” on the Mickey & Friends Cricut Cartridge.  I layered the two pieces together and used Black Diamond Stickles around the edges of the letters to make them stand out.

DSC02234

Here I have cut my name on the Cricut, shaded it in with a little purple ink and completely colored the letters in with Lavender Stickles.  Don’t mind my messy handwriting!  I wasn’t intending on leaving that part in the photos, but it worked.  ;o)

DSC02236

For this one, I covered this dark brown Prima flower with Diamond Stickles to give it an all-over bling effect.

DSC02237

For this little pink flower (can’t remember if this was a Prima!), I used Icicle Stickles to add a little bling to the center.

DSC02242

This is a little hard to see, but if you click on the photo, you should see a slightly bigger image that you can hopefully see!  I cut a “Drippy Goo” SVG on my Cricut and added some Stickles to give them different effects.  For the top one, I used Ruby Slippers to give a “bloody” look.  This would be cool on a Halloween page or card.  For the bottom “goo”, I used Frosted Lace Stickles to give an “icicle” effect.

DSC02233

This paper doll is one I made a while back.  She was cut from the Paper Dolls Dress Up Cricut Cartridge.  I used Black Diamond Stickles on the details of her tutu and Cotton Candy Stickles to color in the hair bow and shoes.  She usually hangs above my desk, but I took her down (temporarily) for this photo!  ;o)

DSC02228

For this spider web patterned paper, I added Diamond Stickles to only a portion of it to let you see what a difference it would make.

Hopefully between my examples above and the list of uses below you will find some information useful for this week’s challenge!

Your challenge for this week is to use Stickles to add bling to your project!  Upload your photo to The Character Cafe blog, NOT here!  ;o)
